God is with us!
As Christmas and the New Year approaches, it is my desire to be closer to God, and this is our desire for you as well.
As we celebrate Christmas, we sense in a greater way the reality of God’s full presence. Christmas is a revelation of God’s closeness. We don’t just hear the Word from afar but we meet with the Speaker face to face. It was the first time that the “Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us” (John 1:14). And since then God’s closeness to us, His living presence among us, and His personal participation in history have not stopped for a moment. We never, even in the darkest moments of life, should forget that we are not forsaken, not rejected and not forgotten. His name, His essence, His manifestation and His birthday remind us the most important thing – “God is with us” (Matthew 1:23).
Christmas is not just one day in history, it’s the beginning of new history that is being written and will have no end. God did not become close and accessible only once in history, but He stays the same and is close now. He promised to be with us always (Matthew 28:20) through the Holy Spirit. The question is, do we appreciate His presence? Are we faithful to Him and His mission in this world?
My wish for us all in these special days is that we could clearly hear and receive God’s Truth as the incarnate, approachable, good, redemptive and personal Word of God to us and let it transform us. May this Christmas remind us that God is not far, but near, that He is not quiet, but He speaks to us, and that He is not indifferent to us, but that He loves us. May the revelation of God’s closeness go with us in 2021 “always, to the very end of the age.”
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
