Christ is risen!
Christ is risen!
This Easter I’m thinking about three scenes in the last chapter of Luke. The first surprises, the second reignites, and the third affirms and empowers.
“He is not here, He has risen,” the angels say to the confused women at the empty tomb. This news is shocking. It doesn’t happen like that! But it’s true. Jesus’ tomb is empty.
Further we read that the Risen One reveals Himself to the lost and sad disciples on the way to Emmaus: “Jesus Himself came up and walked along with them.” He finds each of us and lights up our extinct hearts.
And at the end we see a meeting of the apostles, at which Jesus testifies the reality of His resurrection — demonstrates the wounds on his body, takes food, reveals the meaning of the prophecies. This is how the disciples are confirmed in their faith and calling: “You are witnesses of these things.”
May this Easter surprise, ignite and empower me, you, us as His disciples and witnesses!
Happy Easter to you and your home!
Christ is risen! Truly risen!
